Founded in 2022 by retired teacher Kathy Biegalski and her husband, Tom Biegalski, RLS Edge is dedicated to helping students and their families. RLS Edge focuses on providing our clients with ‘Tools to Help You Succeed”. We serve our students and their families in a variety of ways.
During the school year, RLS Edge provides one on one tutoring either online or in person at a mutually agreed upon location. The tutoring provided is meant to support the curriculum of the school. Whether it’s homework help, filling in skills gaps or teaching executive functioning skills, RLS tutors work hard to align instruction with the curriculum of the school.
In addition to tutoring, RLS Edge also offers enrichment programs. After school programs such as Chess and Open Roads (a class dedicated to exploring interests and passions) is a small sample of the wide variety of classes that we provide.
During the summer months, RLS Edge continues with one on one tutoring, but with a different focus. While some students may have summer homework, others choose to keep skills sharp by choosing to have instruction in summer bridging.
RLS Edge is committed to serving the Door County Community. Let us help by providing you with the tools that will help you succeed!
Kathy Biegalski’s teaching experience spans more than 30 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Reading Education, with teaching licenses in both Illinois and Wisconsin. She has taught students in grades 2 – 8 and has had many years of experience in tutoring. "One of the most frustrating things I faced as a teacher was that I was unable to spend one on one time with every student who needed it," recalls Biegalski. "There were consistently long lines of students at my desk who had questions or wanted to be certain that they were doing the classwork correctly. Some just wanted the reassurance that they understood the concepts that were presented in class. Most often the students were quite capable of comprehending the concepts, however they were lacking in the necessary confidence and organizational skills to complete the work." This experience is the foundation of RLS Edge.
Tom Biegalski holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and has had much experience in training others in the corporate world. His passion, however, is playing strategy games. He has chosen to share his love of strategy games with his students. He has found that strategy games offer many opportunities to teach students the lessons of life as well as how to interact with others appropriately. ‘Mr. B’ has created and developed an outstanding chess program as well as Risk and Military Games Clubs. His classes are almost always filled!
